the spontaneity in friendship

the disparity in our personalities is so apparent, from the choice of what we wear to the kind of lifestyle we live, they are far too different. while she's having her hands swiping on the latest apple gadget, you'd still find me pressing the keypad for my nokia phone. errr, i have the attitude of non-conformity, so that explains. (read: justify kuripot!) hahaha

the one word that would probably describe what we have is  spontaneity. i know it may not be as evident with the picture i have attached here as most of them have dining tables in front of us, believe me when i say it is not all eating that we do! hahah you see us sitting comfortably on the couch,  the next moment you'll find us at a grocery store pushing carts, or giving our feet a pamper at pedicure, or accompanying yeli to go swimming. good times with each other can go as random as our conversations can be. we can face each other and talk nonstop whole day, or not talk at all. yes, this is how seamless we can get. i guess that is the beauty of having an awesome friend, you allow the dead air, the bore, or the lousiness of your own actions without even a hint of uneasiness running in your system.

maricel and i have developed a wonderful relationship over the years. what has started being regular companions before afternoon classes when we were graders has blossomed into a friendship so profound. from the most shallow moments, to occasions called-for, 'mare' is just a beep away :)

P.S. i mounted this collage without her permission taken off her twitter page. :)

more fun in the philippines

since the launch of the ph tourism slogan, it has created a buzz in the online community. each has its own version of how things have become more fun in the philippines. photos, memes, what have you.

mon jimenez is right, tourism is everyone's job. we embody in us what our country is. it is therefore imperative that we take pride of our very own where ever our feet may take us. in so many ways and platforms, let us all do our part in promoting our country, we only have one, i don't think it would hurt if we do our share.

here are a few of my favorites. taken from different scenic views and festivals, my way of bringing my beloved philippines to the world.

off siargao, from my dear province of surigao del norte. surigaonons represent!!! hahaha

Note: i do not own these photos. they are lifted from the fb page of ronald benzon. credit is given where credit is due. thank you.

my little angel

a number of people have been asking for pictures of my baby girl since i gave birth october 11. unlike other mothers who immediately post their baby's first grasp of the real world, i didn't. in today's times, there is a very fine line between privacy and going out publicly (or is there privacy still?), and i have very well defined it. call  me elusive or what, but when it comes to family and my personal matters, i keep it.. here. hahaha

this is as far as i can share. these cuts of her were taken at 2 months and 20 days :) she is a wonder each and every single day, milestone after milestone, and i am one proud mother!

credits given to my dearest glaiza for putting this all up. i love you tamboy!

december 30

december 30. a regular holiday for us here in the philippines honoring the death anniversary of our national hero dr. jose rizal. but did you know that apart from remembering that historic moment, a significant event also happened that day, 89 years after? well, atleast for my parents! hahaha a beautiful baby girl was brought to this world to the delight of fruto and placida, their only girl among 4 children. (do not ever think rebutting on the adjective of the sentence, this is my blog! mwahahaha)

for the past couple of years now, my birthday is celebrated with lunch at my parents' house then a merienda at home with closest friends. the latter is purposely done so we'll have the reason to get together once a year. you see, we have gone separate ways, one works in davao, another in antipolo, then two are in cebu, and overseas. it is only during christmas season when they all take a break from work to choose to be home. no lavish preparations of food and sorts, just simple ones and the warmth and laughter of good friends.

it is such a wonderful feeling to initiate bringing friends back all together. after a year of not seeing and hearing from each other (even facebook updates are elusive for these people), the stories sure do not stop coming, who says we miss anything at all?

at 26 now, i would like to think that i have grown up, self-proclaimed that is! when years ago i like surrounding myself with people, noise and most of the time i want outdoors, everything has gone entirely the opposite. i mean, not naman 'ngmumukmok nalang sa isang tabi', more like i still want to be with people but now, only with select friends, the really close ones that you get to talk about life, if the green back weakened over the local currency, why negative times negative is equal to positive, or the fact that breastfeeding actually helps mothers lose weight, yes these topics and not just what's brewing with other people's life. hahaha small, intimate conversations na peg ko these days! thus, my birthday's an occasion to have one.

with that said, i thank God each and every waking moment for blessing me with wonderful, crazy and the wisest friends! it's just so comforting to think that whatever direction you choose to take in life, however you want to tread life, you will always have those friends whom you can call even in the wee hours of the morning.

P.S. Photos lifted from facebook pages of jen and dan. Thank you for clicking those shutters to document the occasion.
