the choice i made

this post is actually inspired by the kris tv episode i was able to watch last dec 1. it had three showbiz mothers as guests on the show, each had a story of their own, but commonly threading these three women was how they gave up being on the limelight for a family of their own.

the landscape has changed 360 degrees. gone are the days when women are left at home, be domesticated to look after the family. probably brought by pressing economic times, or just how women's attitude had become more independent and ambitious that we see them rise up the corporate ladder, lead the nation and what not. but there are still those full-time moms, either by circumstance or by choice having been accorded with the privilege.

i waved the corporate world goodbye to focus on having a family of my own for more than a year now. it took us 2 years to have a baby, not until i resigned when we were finally blessed with one. i became a mother just last october, and since then i now have a 24/7 job. but far from the pressure and stress brought by the work at the office, this one feels so inspiring and rewarding. i don't mind the sleepless nights, the missed bonding time with friends and the out of town trips. when all you've ever wanted is with you, you wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

truly, the life we have depends on the choices we make. the decision to give up my career would equate to earnings less than what we make, but i never thought twice about it. why? because more than anything else, i have defined myself as a wife and mother. and yes i am blissfully living it! ..thus my twitter profile :)
