reliving moments in good hands

for the almost 4 years i was with the company. sure there were rough times along the way, but who would care to remember those days when you always have a choice to dwell on the warm friendship and fun memories -- formal gatherings we had to attend and in fairness kina-career natin, the outrageous laughters we had every time we deal those playing cards, the fiesta celebrations we had to schedule to grace clients' invitations (we used to call ourselves 'hamis ug nawong' as in hamistahon!), how literally 'sinuyod natin' all videoke establishments just to shout our lungs out, the weekend gimiks at tavern that seemed like our faces had been normal sightings every friday night, and of course drinking sessions were learned and mastered here. every time i scan at the photographs, my lips go archaic =)

the warm smiles of people i used to see everyday then.. ohh how
i miss them so. basta picturan na gani, mghuot gyud bsag dako pa
ang frame =) this was at the poolside of marco polo in davao.

one of those chill friday nights-- good food, music, drinks and laughters

even the teller's cage is not spared for kodak moments. an all-girl group
of tellers, with then cash custodian and leader of the band, maam leth

summer outing sa pearl farm, davao. laki ng budget!!! the trip was great, or was it?

lovely metrobank ladies during rubee's wedding. yes, there is always
the effort to dress up in occasions like this. it's us 5 all the time =)

videoke moments never the same without tiyo. his signature songs are from
bon jovi and aerosmith.. and ohhh his soft side is to the tune of dying inside to
hold you.

this was supposed to be a videoke venue but look how it turned out??

chillin at almont inland resort. when did we ever go back strait to surigao
after our seminars? obviously, we indulge ourselves to the goodness of
what the bigger city has to offer.

good read

this is probably my most read book. every time boredom eats me up, i turn to this. but instead of being eased up from loneliness, i find myself crying over and over again. it is a beautiful love story but painfully ended in tragedy. actually the plot is predictable, however the emotion is just so intense that although i have actually almost memorized the lines of the characters, i still end up sobbing in tears. also, the book tackled on a very important lesson that i think we all should ponder on, and i am sharing it here:

Imagine life is a game in which you are juggling five balls . The balls are called work, family, health, friends, and integrity. And you’re keeping all of them in the air. But one day you finally come to understand that work is a rubber ball, if you drop it, it will bounce back. The other four balls — family, health, friends and integrity — are made of glass. If you drop one of these , it will be irrevocably scuffed, nicked, perhaps shattered. And once you truly understand the lesson of the five balls, you will have the beginnings of balance in you life.

people, changes in their lives, and how they resist at it. generally, this how people initially react at change. but as resilient as we should be, we should realize that there is nothing much we can do about change but embrace the idea of it, even if it would mean leaving our comfort zones and facing an unknown world. this book illustrates how we should set our attitude to every change that takes place in our lives, cheese being the metaphor of it:

1. Change happens. they keep moving the cheese.
2. Anticipate change. get ready for the cheese to move.
3. Monitor change. smell the change so you know when it's getting old.
4. Adapt to change quicklythe quicker you let go of old cheese, the sooner you enjoy new cheese.
5. Change. move with the cheese.
6. Enjoy change. savor the adventure and enjoy the taste of new cheese.

and only if we have mastered the art of dealing with change will we be able to assess how far we have gone, and how much potential we have in us that we never thought of having. we stop blaming others, rather we start to realize where we have gone wrong and what better ways should be acted out. we should stop living in routines because change, whether we like it or not, will always finds its way on us. and little do we know that change can bring even greater opportunities and leads us to much better things. so there, move with the cheese!

this is my first book from malcolm gladwell, and i must say i am in awe of his genius. the book bundles together his favorite articles from his New Yorker contribution. The way he plays with his wit is just beyond compare-- how he sees things in different perspectives and how critically his mind thinks over day to day things then suddenly it will make you realize how everything  works beyond superficiality.

the book challenges us to regard normal things in a completely different view and possibly see it in a different eye to help us appreciate, understand and learn more on the entirety of things. oh and by the way, i am not talking about dealing with life, relationships and people here. the book tackles from almost about any subject, from ketchup, to hair coloring, to what happened with enron and even the history of birth control pills. his brilliance and writing prowess is really at best!

the convenience of doing things at the touch of your fingertips

Remember how we used to do things, how much we tire to go to places just to accomplish our errands without discounting the time factor. People hurrying during the rush hour to get in at their offices on time, knocking on banks at 3pm just to pay their bills or transfer money to avoid overdrafts, and everyone crowding the malls from one shop to another-- such have been normal society scenes we witness in our day to day lives.

Times have change. Just when internet has became household names, people can now comfortably stay home while doing everything at their fingertips. Online shopping has became a fad, playing at the stock market has become easy to monitor, banking has been on a 24-hour service without beating banking hours, paying bills can be done at the touch of a button, even earning for a living has become possible without leaving the comforts of your home. How technology really evolved, and everything can happen at the disposal of your hands. Even the world tend to become smaller with the rise of social networking sites and instant messages. It has become so possible for one to reconnect old fellows who have gone to the other part of the world, or get updated with what your favorite celebrity is doing or even having on his thoughts. Encyclopedias have become passe with wikipedia and other search engines, books have slowly gained unpopularity with e-books available online.

The world has pretty much gone so convenient to live on. Comfort has been on its best shape and use more than ever, ready to embrace each working individual. The world wide web has become man's best buddy, the go-to-guy, the virtual assistant. It is up to one person how far can he allow this comfort and convenience to navigate in his daily routine.

the real blogging deal

i have created this blog account last year primarily to earn something out of writing online. i was inquiring from a friend how to get started on getting paid for it, he then advised me to create a blogsite and have it monetized. discounting the return it can give me, i made one.

much as i want to realize the foremost reason i have signed up for this, i have shifted interest from earning, and now blogging here has become an avenue where i can think aloud and write what is running in my thoughts. being in solitude allows you to think what you want to do, see where you want to be and react to whatever issue there is. with this liberty brought to myself, i find no one to share my stories, no ear to hear my experiences and rebutting with my thoughts just seem so crazy. thus, i am scribbling this blog.

from now on, this blog would contain anything and everything that has been in my head significantly that i want to document it. it will most likely contain my day to day experiences, my reaction to the recent issues i hear over the television, a review on a book that i recently finished or a movie just watched, or just about what i love to do-- travel and food.

p.s. this is just to keep the sanity in me. rather than hearing myself talking to me :) ..and oh just to occasionally exercise the brain cells that have been placed in my head.
